what happens when digital form meets temporal function?
CAD and 3d Printing, meet my friend Clay.
Last year, my partner’s brother threw me a ball, but I hadn’t realized it just yet.
He mentioned that his partner was collecting these vintage spice houses and some of her favorite spices weren’t represented. I had only just begun working in clay, but I felt confident that I could figure out how to recreate these houses myself. I loved the idea, tried it out… and was less than pleased.
Fastforward 6 months and here I am, working on a slipcast mold in OnShape, designing the 3d model, printing it and pouring a plaster mold to create my own, hand designed peices. To date, I’ve slipcast a small shot glass sized cup, a spherical bowl that I plan on using for more Cat Pottery (you read that right :) and I’ve designed a handful of designs as I wait for the filament to arrive.
